CIRCA 1900, 180" POINT DE VENISE LACE REFECTORY TABLE RUNNER W/PRIMAVERA SCENES. A beautiful golden colored Point De Venise hand made lace refectory table runner with Primavera scenes. Many of the finest Italian linens have Springtime scenes... a celebration of abundance that comes to all on Earth. measuring approx. 180" by 14- 15" wide, the runner has meticulous workmanship.The design hs large urns overflowing with florals, undulating vines and flowers and large vignettes filled with playful cherubim and children enjoying the coming of Spring. There are musical instruments and birds, cherubim cavorting on trees while picking fruit are on each end and at the center a large oval vignette measuring approx. 16" with four cherubim and decorative floral swags.On each of the corners there are large scaled classical figures observing the scenes. There are other vignettes containing roses and there is elaborate scrollwork throughout the lace.This item seems almost unused and is in very good condition, a couple of small spots just need to be seen to, otherwise in very good strong condition.This came from a fine estate ,the collector had amazing taste in linens and other items.
