CIRCA 1900. BABY'S SILK GOWN W/EMBROIDERY,VALENCIENNE LACE. A lovely baby christening gown with pin tucking , feather stitch embroidery and lavish Valenciennes lace.This dress has a matching silk slip. Part of a wonderful collection I purchased recently.The collector only collected the very best pieces and she had excellent taste. These gowns are truly a work of art in themselves.Imagine the amount of tiny featherstitch embroidery, the time it also took for the pin tucking and then the time it took to construct this gown. I like the word ordinary..in some instances but for me, beauty and workmanship are paramount. I personally would rather have one beautiful piece as opposed to pieces that do not reflect beauty and craftsmanship.In very good strong condition.
