CIRCA 1700's, SUPERB FLEMISH LACE LAPPET. A beautiful lappet! The museum says on its label 1660, Flemish Angleterre. The lace made during the 1700's is always quite marvelous..not only in the designs, workmanship but also the wonderful fine flax that was used. The lappet is almost as light as a feather and the design has a Brussels Droschel ground with larger florals , meandering vines and leaves and some scrollwork. Measuring approx. 23" by 5". In good strong condition, one age spot and one small area on edge of lappet at the side needs to be seen to. This item came from a museum deaccession.. I have waited, hoping to find the other part.. but so far I have not found one.If I do find it, I certainly will forward it on. The lace has it's original cream patina.
