CIRCA 1800, SUPERB ALENCON LACE FLOUNCE. Such excellent work on this beautiful border, probably Alencon but perhaps Burano?. Measuring approx.111 1/2" by 2 1/4" width . The design is so classical and refined and the workmanship is excellent with a design of scattered florets and fine gentle scalloped ornate edges. The lace is in very good condition, there are some tiny repairs but since they were done in their time they themselves are a piece of art.This was kept very well and lightly mounted red silk. It is very rare to find such a long border.
