CIRCA 19THC.STUNNING FIGURAL BURANO ,VENETIAN LACE REFECTORY TABLE RUNNER. A exquisite hand made lace refectory table runner, definitely museum worthy ! It is very rare to find such a beautiful and elaborate design like this, with of course the most perfect workmanship.This is basically the very best of the beautiful linens hand made in Italy during the 1880-1900's. There is exquisite meandering scrollwork throughout the lace with ornate birds sitting on the branches and a central large vignette containing frolicking cherubs.One each end there are shaped vignettes, each containing a different design, there are figures in classical dress, birds and a dog in a landscaped garden with large extravagant urns. The design and workmanship are absolutely exquisite. This must have been commissioned for a very important person and probably made in Venice by one of the more important lace ateliers. Measuring approx.almost 116" by approx. 35-36", approx. 294.64 cm by 88.9 cm. In mint condition , the table runner seems as if it was never used and the lace retains it's original cream patina. A item for the serious lace collector or for a museum.
