CIRCA 1800's, ETHEREAL LADIES LAWN HANDKERCHIEF W/WHITEWORK EMBROIDERY. Superb tiny workmanship on this beautiful handkerchief ! The design has lovely swags of florals and meandering leaves all around the edges. Measuring approx. 22 inches.There is a Mechlin bobbin lace all around the edge of the handkerchief .The lawn is extremely fine and ethereal and has a diaphanous quality, something one finds on the very early lawn that was used in the 1800's. In good strong condition. The lace came form a museum deaccession and has the original tag . A wonderful handkerchief for the whitework collector.
