CIRCA LATE 1800's-1900, UNUSUAL LACE WITH LADY,ELABORATE HEADDRESS. This lace has a Renaissance theme , the design has a lady with a elaborate headdress with florals and trees in the background..I am not sure about the date as I certainly have never seen a piece like it. The work is so very unusual and reminds me of 16-17THC. needle lace, Venetian buttonhole stitches, solid buttonhole stitches, etc. I would appreciate any help on this item as I am very interested to get a lace makers or collector's opinion. This came from a very old estate that goes back to the 1700's There is a a lace edging and pointed scalloped edges around the central panel. It was backed later on. We will probably undo the central panel as some of the surrounding lace has damage but we can include if a customer desires it. It has a museum deaccession label attached.
