CIRCA 1740, SUPERB MECHLIN LACE BORDER. A beautiful flowing design on this beautiful Mechlin lace border. Measuring approx. almost 32" by 3" wide. There are shaped vignettes filled with three tulips or flowers and there are graceful flower swags above the designs with ornate tiny fillings and fine scalloped ornate edges. Mounted lightly on silk, this lace came from a wonderful collection of lace. A beautiful design, excellent workmanship combine to give us a wonderful example of the lace made in the 18THC. The lace has it's original cream patina and is in very good condition, some tiny openings. In all a wonderful piece for the early lace collector.
