CIRCA 1700's,RARE BONNET W/HOLLIE POINT BIRDS,TREE OF LIFE,MECHLIN LACE. A lovely design on this early Hollie Point infant's bonnet. The crown design has a Tree of life and urn with birds on each side of the Tree. There are lovely dainty decorations done in Hollie Point at the top of the crown and all around the central round Hollie Point there is decorative lace flowers with central openings in the design.At the top of the crown there is a vertical insertion of very fine early Valencienne lace with tiny Drawnwork on each side and also all around the top of the bonnet. There is a wide border of Mechlin lace measuring approx. 11" by 2" wide. The design on the Mechlin lace is quite lovely, with lilies or pomegranates? florals and undulating vine and leaves with fine tiny fillings. The design and workmanship are both excellent. A wonderful bonnet in very good strong condition.
