CIRCA 1900's, RARE AND SUPERB WATERED SILK RIBBON QUILT WITH ROSES. Quite a amazing item! I have never seen anything like this in all my time selling. The quality and beauty of the watered silk designs are truly wonderful. There are polychrome colors, shades of pink, blue, green, purple, yellow and all with such beautiful watered silk flowers. A amazing amount of roses and flowers, swags of flowers and wreaths throughout the bedspread.As anyone in the trade knows, this amount of watered silk ribbons in good strong condition is so very rare.This came from a important estate with provenance and actually seems unused. It must have been made and then stored away as the colors are all vibrant. The quilt measures approx.80" by almost 80"and the lining is green.In very good condition, there is one 4"by 4" stain near one edge due to storage, this can easily be replaced if desired by adding a silk ribbon.For the watered silk ribbon collector it certainly not not get any better than this.
