CIRCA 1860's, EXQUISITE BRUSSELS LACE TRIANGULAR SHAWL W/ROSES,IRIS,HYDRANGEAS. Beautiful and sublime and amazing workmanship on this exquisite Brussels lace triangular shawl. Measuring approx. 110" by 55" at the widest part, centimeters approx. 279.4cm and 139.7cm at widest part. The design is quite magnificent with large beautiful florals, with graceful Iris flowers, Point de Gaze roses, lovely Hydrangea and other florals. There are lovely flower swags throughout the lace and a wonderful assortment of graceful leaves in the design. This shawl is almost entirely covered by florals and scrollwork and is almost entirely embellished. The ground on this shawl is hand made , in a sense a testament to this luxurious shawl. The shawl seems only very rarely used and has it's original patina, there are a few tiny openings, absolutely minor. This is one of the most beautiful shawls I have come across of this type. This was designed by a meticulous artist.both in design and lace workmanship.
