CIRCA 1800's, SUPERB MECHLIN LACE LAPPET. A lovley Fine Mechlin lace lappet of scarf with delicate and pretty florals in the design measuring approx.54" by 7" wide. The thread is extremly fine and light and has a ethereal quality to it. The design has a wide ornate scalloped edging with tiny flowers, and leaves meticulously worked and scattered tiny florets throughout the lace. It is rare to fine such a large pretty Mechlin lace piece like this. This lace originally came from a fine museum deaccession where it seems most of the lace was unused. In very very good condition, one very tiny opening and a couple of light spots, absolutely minor in relation to the excellent overall quality.
