CIRCA 1890-1900,LOVELY BELLE EPOQUE ERA LACE DRESS W/VALENCIENNE LACE. There is a fair amount of lavish Valencienne lace on this lovely gown. The top of the gown and sleeves are heavily embellished with lace The bottom of the gown has a longer train at the back and has seven deep arch shaped areas with masses of Valenciennes lace with more lace on the edge of the gown.There is a wide area around the waistline with original stays on the inside . One could add ribbons around the waistline and flowers if desired. The hook and eyes are original to the date of the gown. Measuring approx. 55" down the front and approx. 65-67" at the back part of the gown, around the waistline approx. 22" , across chest approx. 17-18". A gown like this is similar to the Gibson gowns which were so popular at the time. This came from a museum deaccession, we washed it once but of one desired they can launder again. In really very good strong condition, a few marks on edge of gown, just need touching up. A lovely example and so very frothy and pretty.
