CIRCA 18-19THC. LADIES FINE SILK SKIRT WITH ORNATE POLYCHROME SILK EMBROIDERY. A lovely early ladies silk skirt with a elegant and flowing design of florals worked with silk polychrome embroidery. There are fine elongated vines and trailing florals and leaves midway down the skirt , around the band and then again the the very wide ruffle. Measuring approx.almopst 22" around waist, 42" down the front and 55" down the back of the skirt. Possibly Circa 18C. or early 19THC. the silk has a lovely luminosity and the silk threads are quite brilliant. In overall good strong condition, there are some scattered holes and a few areas of wear but mainly the silk skirt is in very good condition overall.This might have been altered at some early point or there might have been additional embroidery at the back top part. Excellent design and superb embroidery on this early skirt.
