CIRCA 1890-1900,LUMINOUS SILK EMBROIDERED BEDSPREAD W/POLYCHROME SILK EMBROIDERY. Circa 1890-1900, a stunning silk bedspread or panel with a exquisite design worked with raised polychrome silk threads.The design is quite opulent, there are large exuberant meandering vines with florals ,vines and leaves that cover most of  the silk panel.The flowers and leaves all have delicate shading and the jewel tones  silk threads are quite luminous against the shimmering silk.Large scrollwork vignettes surround many of the designs and there is a lovely trellis design throughout the panel composed of metallic beading and silk thread.This panel is even more beautiful than pictures could possibly show.I believe it was made for a bed but one of course could use it as a panel, table cover etc.There is a pink backing on the panel there is some wear so if one desires one can remove.The bedspread has some wear areas but mainly very good strong condition.Measuring apprx.105 by 85",266.7cm by 215.9cm.Both in design and handwork this item is remarkable. (Item #AT38)
