CIRCA 1920's,SUPERB ROUND FRENCH ALENCON LACE TABLECLOTH W/VENETIAN SCENES. A lovely large French Alencon lace round tablecloth measuring apprx.almost 90inches. Quite a beautiful design with a center floral and lattice design and then all around the cloth large scenes of architectural scenes of Venice.St Marks Basilica with equestrian statues, the famous horses of St Marks.A wonderful history can be found on Wikipedia of these horses.There is a wonderful bridge scene, perhaps the Bridge of Sighs and other bridges in the cloth.There are also men in their gondolas and smaller bridge scenes around the edge of the cloth.There are lovely large florals and scrollwork throughout the cloth. A very special tablecloth,made for those who travelled on their Grand Tours during the late 1800-early 1900's.In very good condition.
