MAGNIFICENT BRUSSELS POINT DE GAZE PANEL/VEIL W/OVER 200 THREE DIMENSIONAL ROSES.Circa 1850.1860's, Museum quality piece of lace in every respect.A stunning Brussels Point De Gaze bedspread/panel/veil with over 200 three dimensional roses that have original padding in them. There are apprx. 44 extra large roses,108 large roses and apprx. 88 medium roses and throughout the panel workmanship that almost covers the entire piece. There are masses of meandering vines, and florals with opulent scrollwork throughout the lace. It is quite breathtaking, even more beautiful than pictures show. It is almost impossible to imagine the amount of time and skill that went into completing this piece. If this item was commissioned as a bedspread ,one can only imagine the amount of wealth the person had.I do not think that I have ever come across a piece with so many raised three dimensional roses. This of course can be used as a veil if desired.Measuring apprx. 86" by 76"..Apprx.212-218cm by 190-193cm.There is one corner missing a rose and a few openings, minor as the rest of the lace is in very good strong condition. Please feel fee to request more pictures. In all, top marks here!!Amazing workmanship and design! A magnificent Brussels lace! (Item #AL604)
