SUPERB 19THC.BRUSSELS POINT DE GAZE LACE TRIANGULAR SHAWL. Superb and rare Brussels Point De Gaze triangular lace wedding shawl measuring apprx.98-99" by 50" at widest part. In Centimeters,almost 254cm by 127cm at widest part.The shawl is encrusted with workmanship of the highest order , with lavish large floral bouquets, large oval vignettes congaing florals, with roses, lilies of the valley and other flowers. The shawl has meandering serpentine vines and assorted leaf shapes and elaborate scrollwork.The entire shawl is covered in needle lace and had scattered Point De Esprit throughout the shawl.In quite amazing condition, there are a few small areas of discoloration ,probably from storage as this shawl seems unused.We are goig to try and correct these.All lace was dipped in tea infusions and so this seems to use just something that was caused by storage and would be remedied by adding mixture of tea infusion.In very good strong condition. This lace came from the Brooklyn Museum deaccession. (Item #AL368)
