CIRCA 1880-1900,SUPERB LARGE BEDSPREAD W/FILET FIGURALS,RAISED SATIN STITCH EMBROIDERY.Quite a beautiful large fine lawn bedspread with superb design and excellent workmanship. made of the finest translucent lawn, it is almost entirely encrusted with work. There are large Filet classical figures in the center , on the sides and a lovely shaped vignette across the pillow area. The bedspread has the most wonderful meandering vines , and florals that sweep their way across the bedspread... really quite beautiful!There are Reticella insertions and a light pale pink silk lining that is lightly attached, if desired one could easily remove . As these were called summer spreads, linings were lightly tacked so the bedspreads could be easily washed.Measuring apprx. 116-120" by 96" to include ruffles on three sides.The bedspread is in extremely good mint condition, there are a couple of pin dots and there is some damage one edge lining . The bedspread seems almost unused and has come from a important family in New York. (Item #ALB42)
