FINE WORLD WAR 1 COMMEMORATIVE HERALDIC NEEDLEPOINT,BOBBIN LACE TABLECLOTH
A superb example of a World WAR 1 tablecloth that was made in Belgium by lacemakers to thank countries who helped during the war.A cloth like this was probably presented to a very influential person or someone high up in the military who helped the war effort. This cloth measures apprx.94-95" by 65" wide and has very fine workmanship and a superb design .There are fourteen Heraldic coat of arms throughout the cloth. This cloth actually  has the coat of arms for Japan, the Imperial seal also sometimes called the Chrysanthemum seal. There is also the coat of arms for Greece and the other coats of arms , United Kingdom, United States,France, Romania,Belgium,Brazil, Montenegro? Portugal and Russia etc.. The Needlepoint work is extremely fine, there are fourteen large heraldic coats of arms and some smaller Needlepoint insertions that are then surrounded by bobbin lace. There is Needlepoint insertions around the center of cloth and along the edges with a scalloped edging.A rare tablecloth , excellent in design and workmanship. In very good unused condition, there is  one 2" age spot and some other storage related small spots.Cloth was never washed and so needs only to be laundered.
