RARE,19THC.WHITEWORK SKIRT PANEL AND BODICE W/KING,QUEENS,HORSES,BIRDS.
A extremely rare christening robe skirt panel and front bodice. i doth think I have ver seen anything quite like it. The design has Tudor style King and Queen in historical dress numerous court ladies,elaborate horse and riders in period costume. Designs ar wall on a grid work with assorted birds , florals,vines and leaves in the design.This was never made up into a christening robe. Measuring apprx.38" by 40-41".Small bodice front has figure in period costume.In mainly good condition, there are a few tiny age spots and a small hole on bottom edge of skirt panel. This is part of a museum deaccession, the tag at the back says "A gift from Miss A.. Peabody and Mr.J.E.Eaton.Possibly given By Aemilia Peabody, the Peabody family has a long historical presence in Massachusetts.A rare item!(Item #ACC157)
