FINEST PUNTO IN ARIA.ITALIAN RETICELLA HANDKERCHIEF. Magnificent work on this amazing handkerchief, made with thread so fine that it almost defies belief that someone could have actually worked with this fine of a thread. In the 1800's, there was a revival of lacemaking using designs from the 16TH-17THC and so this handkerchief was possibly made by the Aemilia Ars lace school or by another center that used early lacemaking designs.The handkerchief measures apprx. 17".The lawn is extremely fine with delicate flowers,vines and leaves along the edge and embroidered monograms.Photographs do not do this handkerchief full justice, it is even more perfect than pictures are able to show.
