RARE NEEDLEPOINT TABLE RUNNER W/VILLEBON CASTLE,HENRY IV HUNTING PAVILLION. A wonderful Needlepoint Table Runner ir excellent workmanship and a charming scene. The runner measures apprx. 66" by 22" wide. There are two large ovals measuring apprx. 10" by almost 9",one scene has scripted" Henry IV Hunting Pavillion"with architectural imagery, a hunting lodge, a bridge,water and ducks and landscaped terrain.The other vignette has "The Villebon Castle"with central castle,trees and water designs.Castle Villebon belonged the the Duke of Sully,who was minister to Kind Henry the IVth.The Castle was built during the 100 years war and was visited by many Kings.The other vignette depicts Henry the IV Hunting Lodge.There are large urns above these vignettes overflowing with florals, vines and leaves with ornate scrollwork throughout the runner.In good condition, seems unused and has original patina.
