EXQUISITE 19THC.AYRSHIRE CHRISTENING GOWN.A absolutely stunning gown ! This is the highest level of workmanship that one can find find in Ayrshire whitework embroidery as the embroidery is so very finely worked and the heavily embellished design is a testament to the fine workmanship produced in Scotland during the 1800's.The bodice has a lovely central flower in a shaped vignette with elaborate tiny needlepoint fillings with more whitework on the capped sleeves ,along the neckline, wings and the double-tiered sleeves. The skirt front is entirely worked , there is a trellis like design in the background with floral decorations that become even more elaborate as they descend down the skirt.Beautiful flowers are raised with superb workmanship ,it is almost difficult to believe workmanship can be so precise and detailed. The entire scalloped edging on the gown is also worked. In very good condition, a couple of tiny spots that need attention, minor. A beautiful gown! (Item #ACC111)
