SUPERB IRISH TAMBOUR LACE CHRISTENING GOWN.Circa late 19THC. a wonderful boy's cream Irish Tambour christening gown made in Ireland or England. The point at the edge of the bodice meant this was last used for a boy as it was customary for the point to be inserted if the baby was a girl.Part of a important collection we purchased recently, one rarely sees Tambour lace gowns and certainly not as ornate.A lovely design and workmanship on the gown with ornate florals, undulating vines and leaves covering the entire front of the gown, bodice and sleeves.Large florals are scattered throughout the rest of the gown. A beautiful gown with a ethereal beauty, delicate in design and workmanship. There is a petticoat under the gown that has damage, this might not have been original .In good strong condition, a few spots that should come up once washed, minor otherwise good condition.
