CIRCA 19TH C. MAGNIFICENT AYRSHIRE LACE CHRISTENING GOWN. Simply a work of ART! The design is absolutely superb, the Ayrshire embroidery is a testament to the highest level of embroidery that was done in the 19th c. The bodice is encrusted with embroidery and the skirt is almost completely covered in Ayrshire work. There are double capped sleeves with whitework and more on the shaped wings on the skirt. There are a couple of tiny openings in plain part of bodice and a small repair on the skirt done in it's time. Very minor, the gown is in very good strong condition.
